The Mercedes 500SL is the ultimate version of the W107 series. It sports a fabulous V8/5.0 litre engine with 241 hp. Speaking without prejudice the W107 SL was and is an absolute classic. It was produced for almost 20 years. This car was different, much more matured than the SL with the pagoda roof. Special attention was paid to safety, which had been improved considerably. The suspension was modernised and power-steering became the regular standard. While other roadsters turned more ungainly during the Seventies, or simply disappeared completely, Mercedes-Benz built the excellent SL series until the late eighties.
