From the Mount Nelson Hotel turn right and continue straight. The road becomes De Waal Drive, also called the M3. After about 4 km it is joined by another dual carriage way. Change to the lane furthest on the right and follow directions to M3 Muizenberg.
The M3 ends at a large T-Junction. Turn left into Steenberg Road. After about 1 km you arrive at another T-Junction where you turn right, into the Main Road (M4).
After about 400 m, look out for the turn-off to Boyes Drive on your right.
Boyes Drive ends in Kalkbay. Continue on the M4 coastal road to Fishhoek, Simon’s Town and Cape Point. The turn-off to Table Mountain National Park can not be missed.
When you leave the National Park after your visit to Cape Point, you turn left onto the M65 to Scarborough and Kommetjie towards Noordhoek. At the T-Junction turn left onto the M6. Follow the signs to Noordhoek and the Chapman’s Peak Drive, one of the most spectacular coastal roads in the world and a masterpiece of engineering.
Chapman’s Peak Drive is a toll road. R24.00 per car is due at the end of the drive before you reach Houtbay.
In Houtbay continue on the M6, now the Main Road, to the traffic circle. The M6 turns left (then called Victoria Rd) and takes you out of the valley and along the coast – past the Twelve Apostles and through Camps Bay - back to the city centre of Cape Town.
Alternatively, you can continue straight at the traffic circle in Houtbay and drive back to the city on the M 63 through forests around the back of Table Mountain.
