The low-swung roof on slender columns is a characteristic of the Jaguar 420 G just like the opulent 'hip measurement' of 1.93 metres, which makes it Britain 's widest luxury car to date. It always had - and still has - a massive, smooth elegance of its own and in its day even prompted more favourable reviews than the Bentley SII. A considerable advantage over its predecessors, which were constructed with a separate chassis, was the fact that in 1961 this luxury car with its single wheel suspension and power-steering cost less than half the competition's price. Even if the size of the car resembles that of the American road cruisers of the Sixties, the line was very clearly that of Sir William Lyons, then in charge of Jaguar.

The 4.2 litre, 265 hp engine, taken from the Jaguar E-type, is powerful enough to let the two ton car move with superiority even with an automatic transmission. The performance of this highly elegant, spacious automobile (with a trunk as large as a cargo compartment) is impressive even today!

The 420 G is equipped with air-conditioning so that you can relax and enjoy your drive despite the hot African temperatures. This crown jewel of all of Jaguar's series, in Europe almost forgotten, affords you spaciousness fit for royalty and the opportunity to cruise along powerfully on the wide and almost empty roads of the Western Cape . Treat yourself to this masterpiece of steel, wood and velvet and feel its amazingly flowing aesthetics. The dashboard must be the most beautiful and opulent one ever made by Jaguar. You won't be able to take off your eyes! The 420 G represents the end of an era, the time of energy-wasting and economic carelessness.
