The Bentley SII was
introduced in 1955 and produced for ten ears. It is wonderfully
proportioned, excellently built and runs almost silently – in short, it
is everything that a traditional Bentley client is hoping for. The
interior is more than luxurious with comfortable leather seats, a
gleaming walnut instrument panel and exquisite accessories such as
little reading lamps and tables which fold into the back of the front
seats.
When Bentley was sold
off to Rolls-Royce in 1931, Rolls-Royce merged the Bentley line into
its own: the Bentley marque became a Rolls-Royce without the
distinctive grill and with a slightly lower price tag. The Bentley
S-Type shared the same solid and completely separate all-new chassis,
suspension, and body styling of the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud which was
produced during the same period. However, with its successful racing
history Bentley had been a very serious competitor to Rolls-Royce and
the 8 L Bentley was probably a better machine than anything
Rolls-Royce had to offer at that time.
